I’ve long thought that real estate is something that chooses you—I vividly remember spending nights and weekends driving around looking at properties with my mom as a kid. Throughout my twenties, my mom and I used to obsessively send each other real estate listings looking for ‘deals’—we didn’t know anyone who wanted to buy the houses, but we combed through new listings every day and would even drive to the properties to check them out! I bought my first house at 25, a fixer upper, and knew after that very first experience that I was hooked into real estate for good. I initially decided to get my license because I loved houses and wanted to have an outlet for my passion (and maybe a productive way to channel all that house hunting!), but I’ve since totally fallen in love with the amazing feeling of helping others through the process.
I have worked with clients at all stages of life and through all sorts of transactions. I really pride myself on doing what is needed for each individual client to make their individual transaction the best it can possibly be. I enjoy advocating for others and negotiating hard to get the best deal for the people I represent. But, I will admit I have a soft spot for the ‘live in flip’—a fancy term for when you find a house that needs a little work, move into that house as your primary residence, and do the work slowly over time as you live in the house. A few years down the line, you can sell the house at a nice profit! I’ve used this method to get into houses in areas I’ve wanted to live in that I might not be able to afford otherwise. I love working with buyers who are looking for houses with character, charm, and great ‘bones’ and helping them figure out which ones would make great, manageable live-in flips and which might be DIY disasters. 🙂
I also specialize in putting together great listing packages for sellers—I spend considerable time and effort helping sellers come up with a plan to get their house market ready, photographing the listing, and executing a marketing plan. I have an excellent record selling listings quickly and at or above their asking price.
When it comes to the wonderful world of real estate, I am, hands down, most excited by the truly awesome clients I have worked with. I feel incredibly lucky to meet such fantastic people—getting the opportunity to help them through what can often be a stressful and challenging process is icing on the cake. I believe a great agent can really make or break the experience for a buyer or seller. I get excited every time I negotiate a great deal, or know that I really nailed it with a listing and sell a home in just a few short days! Knowing that you’ve really helped someone never gets old.
When it comes to location, I love selling in Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as the northern ‘burbs (Roseville, Falcon Heights, Shoreview, New Brighton, Arden Hills, Columbia Heights, Fridley, White Bear Lake, Blaine, Lexington, Circle Pines).
When I’m not realtoring, I love renovating houses and am just wrapping up my third major house renovation—I’ve done everything from framing walls to pouring shower floors. My most recent project is a 19040s farmhouse—I’m the first owner who isn’t from the family. It’s both exhausting and extremely rewarding! I am also very passionate about art; I enjoy photography, painting, and drawing—I’m currently working on an illustrated children’s book. I absolutely love putting my skills to use helping sellers figure out how to make their home look its best.
A fun fact about me is that I moonlight as a computer science instructor at the University of Minnesota. I love math and can program in (at last count) 15 computer languages! Once I found real estate I knew I’d found my passion, but I still enjoy working with students and can’t help cracking a bad math joke from time to time 🙂
When it comes to styles of homes, I am an absolute fanatic for mid century modern architecture.
I love nature and the outdoors but really enjoy having access to a city, which is why my dream property would be a gorgeous mid century modern house on several acres overlooking a lake, within a 30 minute drive to a major metropolitan area.
