I started my professional life working as an equine veterinary technician. This is an incredibly rewarding career in many ways, but also requires (really) long hours, on-call, and a wage that makes it very difficult to support a growing family. I loved my time working with the horses, but also learned that I really liked working with and helping their people, too. During my years as a vet tech I followed Amy’s journey on Facebook as she embarked upon a career in real estate herself. I even reached out to her at one point just to learn more about what it actually entailed, but at the time, I wasn’t quite brave enough to make that career change. I spent a few more years constantly looking at houses online and being obsessed with any tv show that was house related (even though we all know they aren’t completely true). It was finally lunch with another realtor friend that made me realize this was the career for me. She laid out the numbers and showed me how many homes I would need to sell to equal what I was making at the vet clinic…the math was undeniable! I also have the ability to make my own schedule, which is essential as a mom of four. I also love working with people—I love getting to know people, creating relationships, hearing their stories and helping them get to where they want to be!
One of my favorite demographics to work with are first time home buyers. I have always found myself settling into the position of educator in anything I do which is why I love educating first timers on the house buying process. I didn’t have a super great experience with my first home purchase and the worst part is, at the time, I just didn’t know any better. I love knowing that clients are in good hands when they work with me. I am patient and take the time to go through every detail and am available whenever I’m needed to answer any question that may come up.
Hobby farms are what I would consider my specialty. Horses have been a huge part of my life since I was just two years old! I even spent the first 12 years of my professional life working with horses as a veterinary technician. I have the unique ability, knowledge and skillset to help people successfully buy and sell hobby farms. I know horses and I know houses!
When it comes to my personal life, I am a hard-working mom of four, wife, realtor, and vet tech. I spend my days working hard for my clients, trying to keep my children alive, fed and trying to keep my house in a somewhat livable condition. Isn’t that what all moms do?! I’ve been told I have a great sense of humor—I am a super positive person who somehow always manages to get a laugh out of just about anyone!
One kind of home I really enjoy is new construction. I love all of the beautiful details that are being put into homes such as wood beams and tray ceilings. I also love that builders are getting a bit more creative with the exterior of homes. It’s nice to see each house with a slightly different look than the ones sitting next to it.
My favorite places to realtor are in the ‘burbs and out into the country! I spend the majority of my time in the areas surrounding my hometown of Monticello, but love exploring new locations and am willing to travel just about anywhere!
There are two different kinds of properties in two different locations that I dream of someday having. The first is a 5-acre hobby farm in my current town of Monticello with a new construction farmhouse. The house would have your classic 2 story farmhouse look complete with wrap around porch. The main floor would be an open concept with a 2 story vaulted living room filled with windows floor to ceiling that overlooks the horses. There would be a main floor master suite and four bedrooms upstairs with a loft space. The basement would have an additional one or two bedrooms, a large family room, and game space as well as a walkout to the backyard. I would want a small barn with 4 box stalls for the horses and an indoor riding arena as well as lush green pasture where the horses would spend their days…oh and I can’t forget the space for the ice rink in the backyard. We will need a flat space big enough for an Olympic sized sheet of ice for the kids to get their skate on! The second dream scenario: A condo in Clearwater, Florida overlooking the ocean! I would be in heaven if I could spend my mornings sipping coffee on my balcony listening to the waves of the ocean. To be able to walk out my front door and right onto a white sandy beach would be amazing!
When I am not realtoring you will find me running my kids back and forth to hockey, soccer, gymnastics, band concerts, etc! I love working out at the gym and am currently splitting my time between kickboxing, Crossfit and running. I do still work part-time at a veterinary clinic specifically for horses and own one horse of my own. I always have time to grab a cup of coffee and talk real estate though, so reach out and let me know how I can help you!
